Pre-Writing

A Friendly Clown

On one corner of my dresser sits a smiling toy clown on a tiny unicycle-a gift I received last Christmas from a close friend. The clown’s short yellow hair, made of yarn, covers its ears but is parted above the eyes. The blue ayes are outlined in black with thin, dark lashed flowing from the brows. It has cherry-red cheeks, nose, and lips and its broad grin disappears into the wide, white ruffle around its neck. The clown wears fluffy, two-tone nylon costume. The left side of the outfit is light blue, and the right side is red. The two colors merge in a dark line that runs down the centre of the small outfit.

2.      The teacher explains the elements in the descriptive text above and generally.

3.      The teacher will put a bear doll in front of the class.

Main-Writing

1.        The students will write a descriptive text about the bear doll.

Post-Writing

1.        The students who have finished writing can exchange their work with another student’s and check the grammar mistake on it.

The students submit their works to their teacher and the teacher will make a correction and tell it to the entire class.

Main Activity

1.      The teacher asks some students to read the following text loudly.

An Irishman's Jocular Tale

An Englishman, a Scotsman and an Irishman all entered a 26 mile long swimming race.  After 12 miles the Scottish man gets tired and drops out.  Then after 16 miles the English man gets tired and drops out.  After 25 miles the Irish man decides he can't finish the race, so he turns around and swims back to the start.

2.      The teacher corrects the students’ miss-pronunciation after they have finished reading it.

3.      The teacher asks the students to read some funny stories (prepared by the teacher) and answer the multiple-choice questions on their book. If they have finished reading it, they can pass it to the other students who have not read it yet.

Post-Teaching

1.        The students submit their answer books to their teacher.

2.        The teacher asks the students about their obstacles in understanding a text.

The teacher says good-bye to the students.

Teaching Listening

Pre-Teaching

1.    The teacher greets the students as entering the class

2.    The teacher asks some students to do the following commands spoken by the teacher;

o  Stand up, please.

o  Pick your book and bring it here.

o  Close the door, please.

o  Etc.

Main Activity

1.    The teacher asks the student to make some small piece of paper and write the following things on it;

(Note: The things are read by the teacher loudly)

o  1 Kilo of meat

o  2 eggs

o  300 gram of tapioca-flour

o  4-8 cloves of garlic

o  1 red onion

o  1 teaspoon of white pepper

o  2 teaspoon of salt

2.    The teacher will mention one of the things above and asks the students to pick the paper with that thing’s name written on it.

3.    The teacher will read the following instruction and ask the students to do as the instruction;

How to Make a Meatball

First of all, mix garlic, red onion, salt and white pepper in a mortar or mixer.

Second step, mix the spice-mixture with the eggs, the tapioca-flour and the minced meat.

After that, use your fingers, add a cup of water and keep on working until the mixture feels soft and smooth.

Then, boil some water in a rather large pot, at least about 2 liters.

Next step, start rolling the mixture into small meatballs.

Finally, lower the meatballs into the boiling water. When they float up to the surface the meatballs are ready to serve.

Post-Teaching

The teacher says good-bye to the students.

VISIT BENGKULU YEAR 2008

            Visit Indonesia Year 2008 is one of the biggest events in Indonesia. It gives a chance for every province in Indonesia to develop their tourism resources. This program will be held on every year. Each province takes it turn to hold it in their province. Once the president run it in 2008, Bengkulu took the chance and held it in 2008, known as Visit Bengkulu Year 2008.

            Bengkulu has big potential in tourism aspect. From its natural resources, it has Pantai Panjang, Tapak Paderi, Danau Mas, Sungai Suci, Air Terjun Suban, etc. From its culture, it has Tabot Festival, Dol music, more than 10 kinds of dance, etc. The tourism places now are even more beautiful than they were. Because soon after taking this chance in 2008, the government started fixing everything around of it. For Pantai Panjang, the government made the road become 4-lane, made a short bridge, built a sport centre and built a mall or market centre near by it.

            The government has made such a good work at that time, especially in promoting Bengkulu’s tourism places. First, the government made an official declaration to claim Bengkulu as a tourism city. Fortunately it sounded to almost the entire part of Indonesia. The prove is Bengkulu gained 20% more for the local income from the tourism sector in 2008. And the second one is, the government also made an official website to promote it managed by Bengkulu Tourism Department and as the result, more than 35.000 people visit and leave a nice comment in it (Source: http//visitbengkuluyear2008.gov).

            In fact, this program did not only help the government directly but also indirectly by helping the local people’s economy. It was a big success that it motivated and encouraged Bengkulu people to build a new business around of it, such as building more hotels, cafes, restaurants, small shops, etc. Started from 2008 (just when the government launched the program) business place has grown rapidly, from 2 or 3 general hotels to 6 or 7 four-star hotels.

            Unfortunately, this program is not all about success but also failure. There are some things that the government fails to think. This is not absolutely a one-year program but a continuing program. Even if it was quite success in 2008 but the government now seem does not care anymore about the facilities around of it. There are still so many broken roads to access the places, the walls and chairs are painted by a meaningless gravity¹, and the worst thing is there are so many people throw their waste from the ship and in the river that flows to the sea. Even if the people has made a criticism politely or even extremely rude, but the government seems ignore them all.

            However the success and the failure of this program depend on the government and the people in its province. The government should be brave enough to take a decision to advance it and the people should help the government by taking the action positively.

          First of all, let me thank Allah for the time, chance, healthy, and everything that I can not mention it one by one here to finish this assignment. I know that I can not thank God just enough since I am only a mere human being with a billions weaknesses. May God forgive all of our sins.

Well, this might be an old trick for some of you, but some others might not know about this application. This application simply can boost up your download speed, I am not really sure about the effect, but if you install this one to a computer in an internet cafe, then you will find out that other computers start getting slower (in its internet speed), so it might be one of the effect. I believe it is alright for you since you are the one who get the benefit.... haha
